Description

Soft and delicious, this homemade naan recipe is quick and so easy to make. Either plain or with your favourite topping, Naan is the perfect accompaniment to any homemade curry.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Bloom the yeast

Combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl and leave for 10 minutes or until bubbly.

  2. Make the dough

Add olive oil, yogurt, egg, salt and flour, and mix until smooth and  you have a soft dough. Knead the dough for a few minutes either in your stand mixer or by hand.

If kneading by hand, make sure you lightly flour your work surface.
  3. Allow the dough to rise

Place the dough in a large greased bowl and allow to rise for around 30 - 60 mins until doubled

  4. Make the Naans

Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll out each piece until they are around 8 inches in diameter

  5. preheat a non stick frying pan or skillet

Your pan needs to be very hot. I use the wok burner on my hob.
  6. Place one of your prepared Naans into your pan and cook for 2-3 minutes. The Naan will begin to bubble and turn golden brown on the bottom. Flip the Nana over and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  7. Store the Naans

At this point the Naans can be stored for later use. Just cover and pop into the freezer.

  8. Add some toppings

Mix melted butter, minced garlic and coriander. Spread evenly over the Naan and then pop into a warm over to heat through. Serve hot.
